The Cardcast
The Cardcast is a quiet exploration of life, one oracle card at a time. In each episode, we pull a single card and reflect on how its message weaves through the everyday — the moments, questions, and patterns that shape our world. No predictions, no prescriptions — just space to notice, connect, and listen in. Whether you're card-curious or card-devoted, come sit with the symbols.

The Human Charger
In today's episode, I talk about the Human Charger oracle card. I share the symbolism and meaning of the card and relate it to the world around and within us.

Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast. I'm Natasha and I'm so glad you're here. Each day, I pull an oracle card and reflect on what it means in the context of everyday life. My hope is to help you use these cards as simple tools for awareness and grounding. So take a deep breath, settle in and let's see what today's card has to say. Today's card is from the Modern Life Oracle cards, which are Modern Life Oracle's Wisdom for Everyday Chaos, and this is a newer deck that I thought just looked really fun. And the card specifically that I pulled is the Human Charger. On it you have a person whose head and neck are essentially wrapped up in all of these charging cables and in their hand they're holding an additional cord, but then like a bigger part of a power cord or like a surge protector.
Speaker 1:I feel like there's a lot of symbolism with what I'm looking at right now. We're constantly connected, right? It's the first thing that comes to mind and in that constant connection, it can be overwhelming and it can really tangle us up in a lot of different ways. We no longer live in a time where we can't be reached, and there is something really beautiful and relaxing about people not being able to reach you. Why does a boss or a family member or someone have to be in constant contact with you all the time? So that's one of the first things that comes to mind. Also, just the sheer number of cords, the sheer number of plugs that are in the card as well. We're not only connected via one thing our phones. We're connected so many different ways and while I think there's a lot of beauty in that, because we can connect in ways that were never possible before so like when something big like the COVID-19 pandemic came up we still had ways to stay connected to people, even if we couldn't be face to face. So, while there is that pro to it, there's also the con side, where we have a lot of devices and we feel the need to constantly keep them updated and charged and engage with them and all these different things that go into that.
Speaker 1:And it really this card looks overwhelming. This person is overwhelmed with all of the different cables, with all of the different inputs. The person on the card we can't see their face, but they're definitely looking down and I think that's also indicative of we look down at our phones, we look down at our devices and when we're looking down, we're not looking at the people next to us or the world around us and noticing all the things that are happening, and then we're also not looking up, especially when we need that inspiration and we just need essentially that posture. Shift of this view isn't working for me right now, or isn't working for me anymore and I won't need to look somewhere else. But her head is, or their head is, so tangled around the head and the neck that it's like would they even be able to we become so dependent on these different things to fill a gap? There's nothing wrong with that. That totally happens.
Speaker 1:There are gaps, and different devices and different apps and things can certainly fill that gap and we then feel this emotional attachment to it. We can go to that for certain types of reassurance or inspiration, or we like specific things, tv shows or influencers or something on there. Totally fine, of course. But then there's also that element of am I getting so wrapped up in it that I'm not looking around and I'm not looking up and I'm getting stuck essentially in one posture and in one perspective and I don't even have the ability to reframe or to work my way out of it. As you think about the symbols that we explored today. What comes up for you? That's it for today's card. For more reflections and a closer look at the cards themselves, you can find me on Instagram and YouTube at the Cardcast. Until next time, take care, and I'll see you in the next episode.
