The Cardcast
The Cardcast is a quiet exploration of life, one oracle card at a time. In each episode, we pull a single card and reflect on how its message weaves through the everyday — the moments, questions, and patterns that shape our world. No predictions, no prescriptions — just space to notice, connect, and listen in. Whether you're card-curious or card-devoted, come sit with the symbols.

Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast. I'm so glad you're here. I'm Natasha and I'm here to share a daily practice. I love pulling an oracle card and interpreting it through the lens of my life. My goal is to help you see oracle cards as a tool for noticing and anchoring in your day. So take a deep breath, pull up a chair and let's see what the cards have to say.
Speaker 1:Today's card is from the Illustrated Bestiary Guides and Rituals from 36 Inspiring Animals by Maya Toll, and our card is the Spotted Skunk who says stand up for yourself. So on this card we have a skunk who's doing a handstand, looking out at us. You can see his back and you can see his big fluffy tail and there are, let's say, plumes of we'll be generous and call it smoke, but we know it's skunk scent going moving around his whole body and then kind of surrounding his body is what looks to be an aura. So the skunk themselves. They represent self-respect, being able to set boundaries without aggression, because when they spray they don't necessarily want to fight or bite or claw, so they're spraying to set that boundary. They represent confidence and then this ability to own your space with a quiet strength. What I really appreciate about looking at the card too, is the aura right. The aura is very obvious on the card. There's this concept called pulling an aura, which is your ability to feel physically and energetically larger. So, with all of those pieces, this card is really about not only standing up for yourself, but knowing that how I show up, what I bring to this situation, is exactly what I need to bring to this situation. I don't need to try to be something different or be more or be less. This was how I was supposed to show up. So if I think about that in terms of different things coming up for myself, there are places where I certainly I'll say put on a little bit of an act right.
Speaker 1:The, I think, anybody who works in different workplaces. We sometimes feel like we are the Meryl Streep of our workplace and sometimes I think that that is going along and that's perfectly fine, you know, depending on the person in the situation. But I think when we do it too much and it becomes how we show up all the time and not just for certain audiences, it can start to chip away at that sense of self and at how we show up for people who we don't need to do that, for Just because we put on a bit of an act for some people does not mean that we're being inauthentic or that we care about them differently than others. Oftentimes we know that to get the message across, to get the resources we need, to get the insight we need or the access that we need, there are different audiences that just require a different type of interaction. What's great about the skunk, though, is that he's still saying like yes, there are these different auras, even on the card. If we see, like the scent plumes, they're all different colors. So, yes, I may need to shift kind of between these different things. It's still at the core of who I am. It still does not take away from my integrity, and I'm not going to act out of integrity because of different things. I just might need to shift.
Speaker 1:Philippe Petit was an individual who walked, essentially, a tightrope between the twin towers. It took him about 45 minutes to walk between the two towers, and when they asked him later, what was it that made you successful? How are you able to do that? He made it seem so simple because he said you just have to shift your weight, and I think about that story probably at least once a week honestly, because I like to think, probably at least once a week honestly, because I like to think where do I need to shift my weight to still continue to move towards my goals? And I'm still staying true to who I am. I'm still on this tightrope, I'm still walking this path that I said was important and that is meaningful to me.
Speaker 1:But sometimes I have to shift and that's just part of engaging in the world, right? Different things come up, different things are happening around and to us. I'm still moving in that direction. Maybe I need to pause for a minute, maybe I need to shift my weight. Either way, I will still continue to move forward and that really I think now that I'm also looking back at the card and thinking the skunk is doing a handstand and when you do a handstand, there is some shifting of your weight that you also need to do there as well. What do these symbols bring up for you? What does that mean for your day? That's all for today's card.
