The Cardcast

Spectors

Natasha Season 1 Episode 50

Today's oracle card "Specters" from the Earth and Bone Oracle symbolizes how our past experiences and unresolved traumas continue to influence our present, even after we've done healing work.

• Card symbolizes discernment, critical thinking, and insight
• Specters represent lingering influence of past experiences
• Anxiety about the future often triggers past patterns
• Healing isn't linear – we revisit old wounds with new perspective
• Stephen Covey's cliff analogy illustrates how progress can feel like regression
• We're not helpless when old patterns emerge
• Sometimes we need to fully experience difficult emotions before moving forward
• Importance of questioning where our beliefs originated
• Critical thinking helps determine which beliefs still serve us

Speaker 1:

Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast. I'm Natasha and I'm so glad you're here. Each day I pull an oracle card and reflect on it as a tool for awareness and grounding. So take a deep breath, settle in and let's see what today's card has to say. Today's card is from the Earth and Bone Oracle and we have specters, and it says discernment, critical thinking, insight, and in the center we have this red specter that is emerging between two other skeleton specters, and specters themselves are symbolic of death or the past, or unresolved trauma and the lingering influence that those things can have on the present. So essentially, while not exactly a ghost, it's a ghost of something that has occurred previously. This card really points to also anxiety about an unknown future, Because when we start to think about the specters or the ghosts of our past, it's usually because we're encountering something that has reminded place of reliving a lot of other things that maybe feel the same way that that felt. We know that our beliefs and our illusions, they're dependent on us, while at the same time there is an element of how our environment and our experience shapes what that looks like for us in any given moment. So we can do a lot of internal work and put a lot of effort into overcoming things and working through things and being part or being on that healing journey, and these things can still come up. We still have to continue to work through things that we thought we had previously gotten past.

Speaker 1:

Stephen Covey used to tell this story about if you're climbing or driving essentially up a cliff and you see that there's this house on the edge of the cliff. When you're on one side of the cliff, you can see the house. You can see it clearly, and as you continue to go up the cliff, when you're on the other side, you're higher up and you're closer to that house. You can see it clearly. And as you continue to go up the cliff, when you're on the other side, you're higher up and you're closer to that house, but you can't see the house. So it gives you this illusion that you're further away than you actually are, While all the while we are seeing the house and then not seeing it, but still on this continuous journey. And that's what this card reminds me of, because sometimes we think we're closer to something because we can see it or because it feels clear to us and we have clarity around that thing in our life. There are other times when that exact same thing can feel distant and it can seem like we're further behind than we actually are, but it's just because it's not immediately in our sights and we don't have that clarity right then in that moment.

Speaker 1:

I think the biggest thing that I'm personally taking away from this card is that we're not helpless. These different things can happen and in the moment we can feel helpless and it's important to acknowledge that that's how we feel and that that's what something is. And at the same time those events can be things that we use to springboard us forward. We don't want to springboard forward quickly or immediately all the time. Sometimes we really need to live in that moment and feel it so that we really can move forward and emerge more healed and with a better perspective, so we don't have to keep repeating a journey or repeating a lesson.

Speaker 1:

Where in your thinking do you notice that there is maybe an old pattern or an old way of thinking that you don't quite know where it came from? And I ask that question because sometimes we just believe things, our beliefs, our illusions but we don't really critically get into who told me that and why do I believe that? And maybe we explore that and we find that it's a perfectly valid thing, but other times we explore those things and we find that they're not. That's it for today's card.
