The Cardcast

Balanced Emotions

Natasha Season 1 Episode 56

Today I pull the "Balanced Emotions" card from the Talisman Oracle, featuring a beautiful jellyfish surrounded by alchemical symbols that reminds us to embrace fluidity and trust life's currents when we can't control our direction.

• Jellyfish symbolize fluidity, adaptability, resilience, and grace in navigating life's waters
• The healing journey isn't linear—we often cycle back through issues we thought were resolved
• When we can't see where we're going, we may feel entangled and create stories that aren't based in reality
• Our brains love to tell stories based on past experiences that may not apply to current situations
• Asking "what else could be possible?" helps create space between emotional reactions and considered responses
• Next time you're upset, let yourself fully experience the emotion, then consider alternative interpretations

Speaker 1:

Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast. I'm Natasha and I'm so glad you're here. Each day I pull an oracle card and reflect on it as a tool for awareness and grounding. So take a deep breath, settle in and let's see what today's card has to say. Today's card is from the Talisman Oracle and we have balanced emotions and on our card we have a lot of talisman symbolism, in the background, a lot of alchemical symbols, and then in the center we have this big, beautiful jellyfish. Jellyfish represent fluidity and adaptability and resilience and, being graceful, they don't really guide themselves through the water. Rather, they trust the ocean to take them to where they need to be.

Speaker 1:

I am oversimplifying and woo-wooing that up, probably a bit, but that is what comes to mind today when I see this card. I know that right now, for me, there are a couple of things that I'm just working through where I've mentioned it before. The healing journey isn't this beautiful linear thing where you level up and then you don't have to roll back to previous levels, or that there are many different things that need to be healed, and sometimes one thing that you're just stuck on it pulls you back into the other areas, and so this card, I think for me is really showing that. I think for me is really showing that, reminding me that I need to be more fluid and adaptable and trust not necessarily the actual events that are occurring, but trust that it's going to take me to a different place that I need to be. And I don't know what that looks like. And I think that sometimes, when we get caught in the moment, we forget that there are a lot of things leading up to this point that we didn't control and that happened unexpectedly and where the universe took us to where we needed to be, even though that was not on our radar or not something we ever thought we would do or a place that we would go. So there's a lot of trusting in this process and trying to remain as fluid and as graceful in the change as possible, especially when you can't really control much like a jellyfish can't control the ocean, you can't control how these things are going to move. Another thing is that if we can't see where we're going, we can start to feel like we're getting entangled. Then the more entangled we get, the more those emotions arise, the more we relate it to past things and we use this heuristic availability to tell ourselves a story that may have been true in a different situation and with different people in the past, but that is unlikely to be true now.

Speaker 1:

There's a part of our brain that just loves to tell us stories that are not based on anything real. It's just a fun storytelling part of our brain, and when we can acknowledge that that's where some of these things are coming from, we can actually make better decisions and become more peaceful because we can be calmer. I remember I once worked with this really wonderful person who I was talking about something that was going on and he could see that I was getting upset about what it was and when I was, he let me finish speaking and then, when I was finished speaking, he said that sounds really serious. What else could be a possibility? What else could happen instead of that? And what I loved about that was not only was he holding that space and letting me get all these feelings out in the story that I was telling myself and then telling him, but it was also the space of yeah, my brain can also come up with a different story.

Speaker 1:

So when we can think about the stories that we're telling ourselves that sure that could totally be true. What else could be true, though? So I would invite you to the next time you feel yourself getting upset or telling yourself a story, you can let yourself finish telling that story and then just think what else could be possible. That's it for today's card. For more reflections and a closer look at the cards themselves, you can find me on Instagram at the underscore card cast. I'll see you in the next episode. You.
