The Cardcast
The Cardcast is a quiet exploration of life, one oracle card at a time. In each episode, we pull a single card and reflect on how its message weaves through the everyday — the moments, questions, and patterns that shape our world. No predictions, no prescriptions — just space to notice, connect, and listen in. Whether you're card-curious or card-devoted, come sit with the symbols.
The Cardcast
Ascending Your Story's Staircase
The Six of Books from the Necronomicon Tarot Deck invites us to examine the stories that shape our journey and mental well-being. This powerful card shows a glowing book with a winding staircase rising from its pages, illuminated by candles along the way—symbolizing how we navigate life's chapters with guidance from those who came before us.
• Every journey is shaped by stories we carry—some written for us, others we write ourselves
• The open book represents our present moment, while the ascending staircase symbolizes our path forward
• Candles along the way represent moments of clarity, wisdom, and insights that guide us through darkness
• Growth comes through living each page, not knowing the ending in advance
• We draw strength from collective knowledge—therapists, teachers, friends, books, and songs
• Our mental well-being is anchored in recognizing we're part of a larger narrative
• Walking each step and turning each page is an act of courage
• Practice: Write down one story that has carried you and one sentence of your own story you want to carry forward

Hi there and welcome to the Cardcast. I'm Natasha and I'm so glad you're here. Together we explore the art of noticing the symbols, stories and quiet patterns that surround us every day and how they connect to our mental health and well-being. Each card becomes a way to pause, reflect and anchor ourselves more deeply in the present moment. Reflect and anchor ourselves more deeply in the present moment. So take a deep breath, settle in and let's see what today's card has to offer. Every journey is shaped not only by the roads we walk, but by the stories we carry. Some are written for us before we even begin family stories, cultural stories, the expectations of others. Others we write ourselves through the choices we make, the lessons we learn and the ways we make meaning of our experiences. Our card today is the Six of Books from the Necronomicon Tarot Deck, and it is really inviting us to pause and consider these stories. And it is really inviting us to pause and consider these stories.
Speaker 1:On the card, an open book lies at the bottom of the image, its golden pages glowing and alive. From its center rises a staircase winding upward into the dark, lit by candles fixed in alcoves. Along the way, the staircase curves into shadow, disappearing and reappearing, promising ascent but never revealing the full path. This is the truth of our inner journeys. We begin at the open book, the present moment, the page we're living right now. From here the steps rise, carrying us towards unknown chapters. We cannot see all that is ahead, but we can trust that the story is unfolding. The candles along the way are important because they represent those points of light, the wisdom, the moments of clarity, the truths offered by others that guide us when the path is obscured. Each candle might be a mentor, a memory, a conversation or a moment of insight, but each one says keep going. The next step will reveal itself when it's time.
Speaker 1:When I think of my own life, I know how tempting it is to want to skip ahead in the book, to read the ending, to know where it all leads. Especially in times of struggle, we want certainty, the promise that things are going to get better, that the darkness will lift and that the effort will not be wasted. But this card reminds us that you're not meant to know the ending before we live it. Growth comes in the reading, not in the spoilers. And yet there is comfort in recognizing that we are not the only authors here. The book beneath us is not blank. It's already filled with wisdom and tradition and voices of those who've walked before us.
Speaker 1:In real life. This shows up in the way we draw on collective knowledge, the words of our therapists, the guidance of a spiritual teacher, the wisdom of a friend, or even the quiet resonance of a line from a book or a song that meets us exactly where we are. Those become part of our own story and we carry those with us as we climb For our mental well-being. The Six of Books is an anchor. It reminds us that we're held in a larger narrative. We may feel lost in a single chapter, but the story is bigger than this page. What feels like an ending may actually be a turning point, and what feels like a detour may be a necessary subplot. And the act of climbing, the effort of turning each page step by step, is itself an act of courage. So who comes with us on this part of the journey? The stories of those who came before, the voices that remind us that we're not alone, the candles that others have lit which still burn for us even in our darkest moments. We may have to walk the steps ourselves, but the stories light the way.
Speaker 1:So I invite you into reflection on a few questions light the way. So I invite you into reflection on a few questions. What stories are you carrying right now? Are they stories of limitation, telling you what you cannot do and who you cannot be? Or are they stories of possibility, reminding you of resilience and creativity and hope? What stories from others have become your candles guiding you in hard times?
Speaker 1:A simple practice for this week is just choose one story that has carried you. It can be a book, a lyric, a poem, a family memory or even a phrase someone once spoke to you and write it down. Then write one sentence of your own story that you want to carry forward. Place them somewhere together so you can see them, and let them remind you that your journey is part of a greater narrative, one where light and wisdom are passed from page to page, step to step, until the path ahead opens. Page to page, step to step, until the path ahead opens. The Six of Books teaches us that we're always mid-chapter, never finished, and that the act of continuing, step by step, page by page, is itself the heart of transformation. That's it for today's card. For more reflections and a closer look at the cards themselves, you can find me on Instagram at the underscore card cast. I'll see you in the next episode.
